What is Full Circle?

The Full Circle Project looks to encourage and support action by our community on the journey to Zero Waste.

Welsh government has ambitious targets to reach zero waste by 2050. At its most basic this means zero materials going to landfill but in practical terms, reaching this target will require a big shift in mindset regarding what waste actually means. To make the necessary behavioural changes everyone needs to move away from the concept of ‘waste’ as a fact of life and instead, see ‘surplus’ as a resource out of place. Finding creative and innovative ways of transforming it from a problem to a resource, from a liability into an asset.

The circular economy movement highlights the opportunities that come from moving from the linear making and consuming processes to circular processes that eliminate waste.

Full Circle aims to help build capacity and facilitate action within the community through inspiration, education, empowerment, and coordination.

Engaging the widest range of people from business, education, third sector, faith groups, community and sporting groups as well as individuals.

It looks to engage people via the widest range of endeavours in the realms of politics and civic society, education, science and technology, music and the arts, sport and social activism.

Full Circle is funded by the Esme Fairbairn Foundation and delivered by Foothold Cymru.

Zero waste alliance launch event

The Zero Waste Alliance

The Zero waste Alliance is a network of businesses and organisations that are prepared to work together, share knowledge and resources and support a genuinely joined up approach to creating impact and effecting change.

Imagine, businesses, charities, schools and colleges, town and community councils, the local authority and other statutory bodies all feeding into a resource pool that supports community led action.

It’s not all about the money, these organisations have all sorts of resources that could be leveraged. Enabling genuine impact in the community, furthering circular economy practices and raising awareness of their good work.

“I decided to volunteer with Litter Out Llanelli because I believe in helping people achieve their potential. I also wanted to meet new friends and make new experiences. Moving out of your comfort zone is important, and I've certainly done that at Foothold Cymru. I've been able to use my skills to benefit the community and pick up plenty more along the way. I'm very grateful to be part of this group.” The work Brian does is vital to the continued success and development of Litter Out Llanelli.

’If we don’t start thinking differently, there’s no future for us. We can all make changes, no matter how small. And if you can persuade one other person to do the same? You’ve doubled the impact! I always think about how to make everything go that little bit further or have more than one use.’’
