Bike 1

Bike Library

Our Bike Library provided short and long term bike loans for the whole family.

The Bike Library also delivered a range of events, community bike rides and fix-it fairs, all aimed at helping the community make the most out of this sustainable transport option.

Our library also delivered five bike maintenance training programmes to local community members and school groups helping them to develop their bike maintenance abilities.

Check out some of the Bike Library's amazing achievements below.

Case Studies

"

One Fix-It Fair visitor brought in a bike that needed a rare, costly component. Our Mechanic, Toni, recalled an unrepairable donation that had been stripped for parts—and among them was the exact piece required. It was cleaned, fitted, and tested, restoring the bike to full use without cost or waste. The repair saved money, reduced landfill waste, and demonstrated the library’s circular-economy model in action. “It’s brilliant to know the part came from another bike that would have gone to waste.”

"We are very grateful for the donation of the children's bicycle for our son this Christmas. He doesn't have a bicycle and we look forward to being able to go out together as a family."

"It's great to see a project committed to sustainability and promoting cycling as a means of transport. We really enjoyed the information provided regarding safe cycling routes in Carmarthenshire."

Through the rental bike element of the project we were able to support the Gwenllian Centre in Kidwelly with a learn-to-ride programme. This programme resulted in six young people learning how to ride a bike meaning they could make more environmentally conscious travel decisions from an earlier age

"The six week training course gave me the basic skills to feel comfortable repairing simple elements on my bike. Being able to change my own tyre, repair a puncture and check the oil and brake tensions really will help me save money on costly bike repairs. A great project!"

"Its great to know that our unused bikes are going to be used for such a great project. They have sat unused and now can support the community in the Bike Library as opposed to go to waste and eventually to landfill."
