Bright Sparks Host Tech Giveaway Event

The Bright Sparks Team and its Young Ambassador’s hosted a Tech Giveaway event on Saturday 22nd December 2025 in the St Elli’s Shopping Centre in Llanelli town.

The team took a range of repaired and repurposed items which was then given out to members of the public throughout the event.

The tech, which was distributed as part of the event, had all been donated to the program via the Tech Amnesty project in collaboration with the Full Circle project. This allowed businesses to donate old office tech free of charge, allowing businesses to declutter without it ending up in landfill.

The tech has then been repaired by the team in the Bright Sparks workshop over the last several months by the Young Ambassadors.

Tech that couldn’t be repaired in a like for like format, has been repurposed into alternative uses. For example, 10 old desktop tower units which could no longer be used as computers have been reprogrammed into retro arcade gaming units.

As well as distributing tech at the event, the team also spoke to members of the public about the project, raised awareness of the problems of E-waste and arranged the collection of old tech donations.

During the event five requests were received for repaired tech. Three items were given out immediately at the event and two following the event.

One of the tech recipients said, “This new laptop will help my sister greatly, as currently she uses the laptops at the college to complete her assignments however this laptop will mean she has more flexibility and complete her work in the house. She will be less rushed and can spend longer on her work. Thank you!”

Throughout the course of the event over 80 members of the public were engaged with. One member of the public said “What a great project, I hate chucking away old tech as it feels so wasteful! I will make sure to bring down some of my old tech to the workshop.”

Several donations have been received at the workshop since the event has been held.

Another tech giveaway event will be hosted in 2026 following the completion of the next 8-week training block which is scheduled to commence on the 06th January 2026.
