Community Engagement Project at the New Canolfan Pentre Awel Complete
Over the last four months the team at Foothold Cymru has worked in collaboration with Carmarthenshire County Council and Canolfan Pentre Awel to provide a range of community engagement events in support of the newly opened facility in Llanelli.
A range of events were provided for the duration of the project between the months of October 2025 to January 2026. The purpose of all the events was to encourage the local community to visit the new facility.
Different events targeted different interests in order to demonstrate the desire to position Canolfan Pentre Awel as a community hub.
For example, local community businesses were showcased during the Winter Craft Market. With over 30 local businesses having a stall at the event.
The creative arts were encouraged during the Storytelling Festival, with local author Dr Ffion Jones judging a storytelling competition in which local schools took part. Llanelli photography project 'Seeing Llanelli' showcased a photography display and roaming Welsh Storyteller, Ceri John Phillips, provided storytelling entertaining, helping to celebrate storytelling in all its forms.
Two local choirs, Llanelli Chamber Choir and Cor Curiad also sang at events as well as live entertainment from Brandon Kemney from Llanelli School of Music.
Local sports were highlighted when the Scarlett's turned on the Christmas Tree Lights and wellness in all its forms was championed at the Wellness Day where local service providers such as Age Cymru, MIND, Ty Celf and many more shared information on their services with the attendees.
