Wellbeing Packages distributed to the local community

Year 10 learners from Ysgol Strade have been busy this November and December, as they worked in collaboration with our Volunteens team to support the creation of wellbeing packages for members of the local community who are struggling with homelessness and sofa surfing.

The young people have worked together to create 30-packs with the help of donations from the community.

These vital packs contain essentials like a hat, gloves, a scarf, socks, toiletries, sanitary products and some additional festive items such as biscuits or mince pies. Some packs also come with pet food items where needed.

Following a champaign created by the young people seeking donations for the packs, the project was supported by a generous donation of toothpastes and toothbrushes from local dental practice Avenue Villa in Llanelli.

Foothold Cymru were also able to donate the majority of the clothing items, sanitary products and pet food for the packs.

Each pack also contains a handmade card from the young people with a thoughtful message inside reminding people that they are seen and recognised especially at this time of year.

Alongside the project, the young people have been learning about homelessness, the impact it has and the reasons that can sometimes cause this.

The young people handed the packs out at the Lantern Centre on Thursday December 11th to those most in need.

Great work Volunteens!
