Increasing Income through Enterprise
Families Together aims to provide working families with the resilience, skills and resources necessary to become more self-sufficient and live better on low incomes.
In the run up to Christmas, an expensive time of year for everyone, Families Together staff ran a number of workshops designed to not only help limited finances go that much further but also to suggest ideas for increasing household income. At the wreath making workshops, families were taught how to make and decorate hand tied wreaths that could be sold or gifted in the lead up to Christmas. During the session, the families were introduced to basic business concepts such as profit and loss, marketing and how to value their time to accurately price the finished products.
These popular sessions have resulted in the successful creation of some beautiful wreaths and positive feedback from all who have taken part. Everyone is invited to return for additional sessions so that they can continue to learn more about setting up small cottage businesses. Members are encouraged to share ideas and in each session, the group increases their income potential by learning more about making and marketing their high quality finished products.
