Shannon from Kidwelly, is taking leave from her STEP UP work placement to attend the Homeless World Cup's European Street Football Festival 2018! The event will bring together European teams for 4 days of development workshops and competition. This comes 15 years after Graz hosted the first ever Homeless World Cup in 2003, where football’s potential for social inclusion quickly became apparent. Players experienced team spirit, motivation, self-worth and through their experience in street football, were able to leave their social isolation behind.
A keen footballer, Shannon has maintained her volunteering at Street Football Wales whilst on her Step Up Project work placement in Glyn Abbey Golf club and is spending the week leading a team in Austria. The experience will stand her in good stead for her ambition to work in sports coaching in the future
