VINCI Building partners with Foothold Cymru Charity to support West Wales Communities.

VINCI Building’s Wales-based team have proudly selected Foothold Cymru as their charity of the year.

VINCI Building, who are currently working on projects at Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest and Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen, have sought to partner with the charity to make a positive impact in the communities in West Wales.

Foothold Cymru has been dedicated to supporting West Wales communities for over 30 years, providing essential resources that many people take for granted, such as food, clothing, education, and employment opportunities. The charity's approach focuses on addressing the specific needs of the people of West Wales and working collaboratively with communities to bring about meaningful change.

Among the services provided by Foothold Cymru are the community food store, a food delivery service covering rural north Carmarthenshire, programs promoting healthy eating, cooking, and growing, a children's clothing bank and a Tool Library.

 Last year, as the cost of living crisis intensified, over 2,100 individuals accessed the charity's food resilience services, highlighting the growing struggle many families face in meeting their basic needs. This year, with rising food inflation, the demand for Foothold Cymru's services is expected to further increase, putting a strain on the charity's resources.

Mike Theodoulou, Chief Executive of Foothold Cymru, expressed gratitude for the support from VINCIBuilding, stating, "As the cost of living continues to rise, more families are turning to us to help make ends meet. We cannot turn anyone away, but it has put a strain on our resources as we provide food and essentials from our charity reserves. The support from VINCI will enable us to stock our shelves and help those who are struggling."

VINCI Building is demonstrating its commitment to Foothold Cymru through a series of team fundraising activities, including the team Three Peaks Challenge, office cake bakes, and food collections. In addition, the company is providing skilled volunteer support by deploying its workforce to assist the charity with both one-off and ongoing projects on the ground.

Kayleigh Ball, VINCI Building’s Social Value Manager, explained the company's choice to support Foothold Cymru, saying, "We selected Foothold Cymru because we wanted our fundraising efforts to have a tangible impact on a wide range of people in the community where we work. Foothold Cymru's work positively affects all who need them, and we firmly believe in the incredible importance of their mission, particularly in times of economic crisis."
